Objectives:

• Students will learn how to see more in their art than just what meets the eye.

• Students will create a tissue paper collage.

• Students will learn to appreciate the art created not only by them, but by others as well.

What You Need:

• wax paper
• spray starch
• 2 or more different colors of tissue paper
• optional: wooden embroidery frame and little suction cup hook

What You Do:

1. Give each child a large sheet of wax paper.

2. Fold the wax paper in half.

3. Reopen.

4. Child tears colored tissue paper and arranges on only one side of the wax paper. The more variation in size and layering the better.

5. Heavily spray the tissue paper side of the wax paper with spray starch.

6. Refold the wax paper and press out any air bubbles with your fingers.

7. Let dry.

8. Hold the finished art up to the light and comment on "What is it?" boat? dancer, dinosaur? etc.

9. Optional: Wooden embroidery frames can be added and with a suction cup can make a window hanging.
