Tips for Art Teachers
Easy Clean Up
For easy and environmentally friendly mess control, I cover my art tables with an old towel. Clean-up is as easy as pulling the towel off and putting it into the wash bucket for wash day. Some children resist messy arts/crafts because they simply cannot tolerate messy fingers: this method serves those sensory-sensitive children who have that need to clean their fingers as they create!
A moist cloth nearby will also help to guide the confidence of a sensory-sensitive child to try some messy fun. I have found this addition to my art tables inspire many children to try play-do and play-clay when they resisted the temptation earlier.
