Students can make a handprint turkey using seeds, beans and grains.
What You Need:
- paper (heavy weight will work the best – poster paper, watercolor paper, etc.)
- seeds, beans and/or grains (we used millet, flax seeds, red lentils, split peas and oatmeal)
- construction paper (optional)
- googly eyes (optional)
What You Do:
Gather some dried seeds, beans, etc.
Child traces hand on a piece of paper, making sure the thumb is sticking out a bit (it will become the turkey’s head). You can do it too!
Squeeze glue onto the tracing. Work on one finger at a time.
Drop seeds/beans/grains onto the glue.
Fill in the palm of the hand with seeds and beans or torn construction paper.
Add a googly eye and some seeds (or paper) to create the turkey’s face and beak.
Let dry and admire your work!
