This activity allows you to chart the weather with your students, comparing the first of the month with the last of the month.
Did March come in like a lion and go out like a lamb?
What You Need:
- Lion Printable (see below)
- Lamb Printable (see below)
- Markers or crayons
What Do You Do:
If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb.
Bring up this old saying with your students to spark discussion about the weather in March.
Talk about what the saying might mean. ie: If March starts out cold and “ferocious”, like a lion, it will end up warm and “gentle” like a lamb.
Discuss what would make the weather “ferocious” like a lion? (rain, cold wind, storms, sleet, snow, etc.); What would make the weather “gentle” like a lamb? (sunshine, warm breezes, etc.)
Take the opportunity to chart the weather with your students — comparing the first of the month with the last of the month. Did it come in like a lion and go out like a lamb — or was the opposite true?
